BEFORE
THE PROJECT
Compass Sport had already developed a content based website that
they managed using Microsoft Frontpage.
DURING THE PROJECT
Compass Sport had clear objectives for their Trade Online Project:
1. Reformat the site layout and branding to create a more professional
look.
2. Add a shop to sell subscriptions to the magazine and other
publications.
3. Increase site interaction by adding a forum.
The
first Project module covered online trading platforms and due
to the variety of publications and the many sub-options (like
map code) it was decided that Actinic was the best shop platform.
Once this decision had been made the look of the site was discussed
with consideration given to how the shop would integrate into
the new design and how it could be customised to match the overall
branding.
Once the design had been agreed the changes were implemented with
time taken to train Compass Sport in using their Frontpage software
to update the new format. Full training was also provided in updating
the shop with new publications, price info and promotions.
The content management module explored the many free plug-ins
that are available for websites and a suitable forum application
was found and installed on the site.
As a publisher Compass Sport needed a dynamic website, up-to-date,
with content that leads customers towards a magazine subscription.
The clean site enforces the brand and the Trade Online Project
achieved all the above requirements.
The next page has some screenshots of the website.
